Stages of Decay

1.

A ceramic vase turns,
a lazy Susan between
two sinks.

2.

He flings crispy words,
the ones not
found in a book.

3.

She says it is not
orange, cannot
be tangerine.

4.

Warmth soaps tongues,
lathers their mouths
for sanitation.

5.

A plastic star within
the vase unfolds
romantic verse.

6.

They can't see
the letters
for the petals.
