What Drove Her to a Career

It was like a fairy tale
that began with the incident
of the too tight shoe.
Though the foot was smaller
than the male's, it was
expected that, when it came
to shoeing, the implement
involved would be smaller still.
It would be the first impossibility.
A mass of congealed flesh and bone
struggling to push leather out of shape,
make it larger than it is.
It was while partaking of this
painful ritual that it occurred
to her that Eve wasn't even born yet
when God warned Adam of
the dire consequence of apple eating
so why should she be blamed?
So she went out and bought
some flat shoes that
slipped right on her feet.
Okay so that salesman was a serpent,
but he had a point.
